Adele to the rescue

 

In these fraught and turbulent times, it’s important to remember that a few good things — and people! — are still all around us. Barack Obama is very much kicking it in style, Dr. Dre is about to step on stage at the Super Bowl with a few of his closest friends (that would be Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Mary J. Blige and Kendrick Lamar)… and Adele keeps being her authentic charming self.

Case in point: young Adele fan and New York-based media producer Eleni Sabracos posted a video on TikTok that hilariously listed all the times that she tried — and failed — to see Adele live in concert. She first bought tickets on Craigslist that turned out to be fake, she then flew over to London for another show that was eventually postponed due to Covid… and, a mere 3 days ago, as a distraught Adele announced at the last minute that she had to delay the start of her Las Vegas residency for the very same reason, Sabracos was literally standing in line for that very same show. Talk about bad luck.

Interestingly however, because she’d already posted her video by the time she joined said line, Sabracos actually became the center of a whole new Adele-related story. Her viral story, which has by now garnered a sizeable 10 million views (and over 2 million likes) actually got her to be recognized in the street in Las Vegas, which is a feat in itself given how many distractions there are over there. Meanwhile, people from Adele’s management team decided to pick out a few disappointed fans for a bit of super-special cheering up: the select few would get to Facetime with the singer herself!

Lo and behold: Sabracos was among the chosen ones. In other words, her past lack of luck eventually paid off — big time. And so, a little while later, she posted a video of her facetiming with the “Easy On Me” superstar, managing to stay funny while talking to the biggest musical star on the planet right now, who in turn came out as empathetic as we’ve always known her to be. We hope there’s more to this story, that Sabracos ends up on stage with the British diva somewhere, that the two become friends, that they make TikTok videos together…
